Adam Kayoom, a long time friend of Tiger Muay Thai and head instructor at the Bangkok Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy has headed to Tiger Muay Thai to finish the last three weeks of his training camp in preparation for a bout against Sengoku veteran fighter Bae Myung Ho of Korea for the Legends FC event in Hong Kong. Kayoom, a BJJ Black Belt under American Top Team Instructor Ricardo Liborio, is an accomplished Muay Thai fighter who is hoping to successfully crossover into the sport of MMA.
Running Bangkok’s most popular academy full-time, Adam decided removing himself from his familiar elements and training routine were the best thing for the final weeks of training camp. With a win against Bae, Professor Kayoom will earn a title shot against the winner of Justin Murray (Also a TMT alumni) Vs. Kim Hoon on the next Legends fight card.
Look for Adam Kayoom to promote a Nogi seminar free of charge to the guest of TMT before heading off to Hong Kong to compete. More details on his seminar to be announced later.
It’s been a good week of training at the gym with the arrival of BJJ Black Belt Adam Kayoom from the BKK BJJ academy.
Today I did a lil’ running around getting a haircut, picking up some groceries, and visiting Big James.
Wanting to relax I’ve headed out for dinner and a massage…imma pick up a few new DVD’s and then make it an early night.
…eating Swedish meatballs at Rico’s steakhouse in Patong…Then off to a Thai massage.
Most people don’t know it…but the energy drink “Red Bull” started as a Thai company. The drink known as “Krating Daeng” here in Thai translates as “Red Bull”. Based on market share, it is the most popular energy drink in the world. It was founded by Thai national Chaleo Yoovidya and an Australian Named Dietrich Mateschitz. Together Chaleo and his son own a controlling 51 percent interest in the company.
In 2009 it was discovered that “Red Bull Cola” exported from Austria contained trace amounts of Cocaine. Batches of the drink were found to contain between .1-.3 micrograms of Cocaine per Liter, according to officials in Hong Kong who tested the beverage. In Taiwan it was found that the importer was due to launch a marketing campaign, the day after the reports surfaced in Hong Kong.
Testing of Red Bull Energy drink and its variations have shown that a person with a low tolerance for Cocaine would have to consume two million cans of the drink in a single sitting before becoming critically ill from the Cocaine…LOL. 2,000,000 cans!!!
Even though it has such a small trace amount, the findings are “legally” irrelevant in Taiwan, where it is punishable by death, or a life sentence in prison to import cocaine regardless of the quantity. In Germany 11 out of 16 states have already banned the drinks. Red Bull has also been the subject of bans in France, Denmark and Norway.
In Thailand, the drink is sold in small brown bottles that are like old-fashioned medicine bottles. It still has the distinctive blue label with the bulls running across it, but the taste of the drink is completely different. Unlike in the US, where Red Bulls are larger, more watered down and fizzy, in Thailand the drink is flat, thicker– like cough syrup and sweeter. It also has more Caffeine than the US version. The carbonated version of the drink was launched in 1987 as they prepared to enter Red Bull into various foreign markets. Starting with Hungry in 1992, Red Bull expanded to the states (1997) and the Middle East (2000) as they are continuing to dominate the “Energy Drink” market.
In Thailand a can of Red Bull cost about 25 cents. Last time I was in the USA, I think I bought a can for almost 2$. Amazing the mark up in the drink. It’s no wonder that in 2008 Forbes Magazine listed both Chaleo and Mateschitz as being the 260th richest persons in the world with an estimated net worth of 4 billion dollars!!! Considering they both started the company with an initial investment of $500,000 USD, that’s a pretty good investment!
Been letting my hair grow out again…but it’s time for a trim.
It’s in that akward stage where it is too short to comb, but too long to not “style”…figured it was time for a trim.
J~Money…AKA–James Mason is stuck in the hospital for a few days…so I figured I’d stop by and spend my Friday evenning hanging out with him.
Last week J$ noticed his leg was sore–and bruised. Not thinking much of it he continued day to day as normal.
Saturday after the BBQ Beatdown we all went out for drinks. In the morning when he woke James was so worried about his leg he headed straight to the hospital.
Turns out he had a small cut on the bottom of his foot that became infected. Suffering from an extreme case of Staph infection the doctors had to cut his leg open and clean out the sore. Big James has already been in the hospital 6 days and will probably have to be here another 5…The good news is that they were able to clean the infection without amputating his leg…that’s how serious the staph had become!

…any time you have to post up a sign above the sink…it makes you wonder!—-I think I’ll just stick to bottle water =)
…I mean…seriously…if you don’t find a women dangling herself three stories above the floor…only using her legs to secure herself…you might have caught the ghey.
