Nogi grappling in Kuwait?!

Arrived last weekend into Kuwait, and got situated into a temporary apartment while I search for a place to actually settle into.

Haven’t officially announced the big news of Kuwait Combat Athletics…however those announcements will come in time.

For the time being we’re waiting on a few things to finalize before we make any public press releases about my plans for expanding fitness, mma, grappling, and Muay Thai within the Middle East region and the country of Kuwait.

All of that said…I’m still training, keeping the sword and the shield sharp even during the off season :)

For the time being we’ve set some mats down at Khalid’s place and are getting some rolling done in the evenings.

Anyone in Kuwait interested in crosstraining with us, shoot me an email…I’m new here and looking for new friends :)

Being part of history…

Yesterday when Ole Baguio Laursen and myself went to the Sistine Chapel we arrived literally moments before the closure to the public .  The chapel is being closed for the Papal Conclave which will choose the successor to Pope Benedict XVI.  Pretty cool being part of the final group getting to see the Chapel under Pope Benedict!!

If you were a real Gladiator…you would train here!!

Imagine preparing to do battle inside the Roman Colosseum in front of 80,000 people who came strictly to see you battle to the death!!

Amazing experience to see a stadium this size, built so long ago.  While much of it is literally in ruins, the fact that so much of it

Rome was built in a day?!

20130304-170436.jpg

Got into Rome this morning from Trieste via the train…only to realize BOTH Ole and myself left our luggage in the train station.

Panic struck as Ole has his 4 career championship belts packed in his suitcase…and mine (which Qatar airlines just delivered) had my BJJ black belt certificate, along with all the clothes I haven’t shipped to Kuwait yet.

Attempting to communicate in Italy is difficult if you only speak English…However the front desk lady from the Vicotria Hotel named Daniela saved the day! Calling the train station, she discovered our bags had been sent to the police station…eventually heading to the police station to collect our bags, she is sending them to meet us in Rome tomorrow via DSL.

Thank you Daniela!!!

Since our bags were sorted, and we didn’t have to travel 10+ hours back to Trieste, we headed to the Colosseum for a day of trouble making and history learning.

Was an amazing experience!! More pics/video to come!

Hoping to visit the new pope at the Vatican tomorrow!!

Hey!! Ole Laursen makes weight for his fight tomorrow against Giorgio Petroysan

Few fighters would jump at the chance to face Giorgio Petrosyan,

Ole Laursen however, is a fighters fighter…and the chance to face the #1 fighter in the world was something he couldn’t pass up.

Having gone 7-1 in his last 8 MMA fights, Ole was almost done fighting K1 style bouts…until the chance to face a 2x World K-1 Max champion presented itself.

Even though he hasn’t fought K1 style rules in almost 5 years, Ole signed on the dotted line, and will be facing Giorgio Petroysan tomorrow night in Tieste Italy.

If you wanna watch online, be sure to check it out here!!!

Lemme be your Caveman!

Had a fun day yesterday while in Trieste Italy. Headed down to the Grotta Gigante caves, located next to the Slovenia boarder.

Was really a breath taking experience, and I could not imagine being one of the first explorers to discover this MASSIVE cave.

very cool experience, just sad the pictures don’t do it justice!!

Besides the Cave, they also had a small museum with fossils of creatures from around the area…the most impressive being a Ursus Spelaeus (cave bear) which appeared in Europe 300,000 years ago, and became extinct around 12,000 years ago, following the last glaciation. It was mainly herbivorous and could reach 900KG in weight…the remains of many specimens have been found in the caves of Karst!!!
